3. As a general rule, always make sure your work is clamped down securely. Having a piece of metal or wood kick out and a drill bit go in to your leg would not be a pleasant experience.

4. Don't force the drill to drill. Instead, let the machine do its job. This goes for sanding as well.

5. You should always start off very slow and work up to a higher speed. Starting off fast is only going to have the drill bit dance around and end up other than in your work.

6. And finally, take your time. The number one reasons accidents happen in the shop is from people rushing. If it takes 2 minutes to drill through a piece of sheet metal, don't try to get it done in 30 seconds.

Tips for Safe and Easy Hedge Trimming

Before getting started, read the owner's manual if possible to understand how the machine works and any nuances with that particular model. Add fuel if necessary, or plug in an electrical model. Send all children and pets inside, and check the weather forecast.

Despite this exterior refabrication, though, it is perhaps the 20V MAX battery that deserves the most credit and praise for the tool's overall balance and ergonomics. Like the tool itself, the 20V MAX battery has undergone a serious transformation. Unlike Dewalt's former stem style (18V) batteries that require insertion into the tool's handle (which also contributes to their overall bulkiness and imperfect balance), the 20V MAX batteries, instead, slide onto the base of the tool rather than into it. They are sleek, compact (perhaps even shockingly so), and lightweight, and despite technically producing only the same 18V of working power, the batteries offer greater run-time and greater overall longevity.

The compact hammerdrill-driver comes standard with a 1.5-Ah battery, but, where longer run-times are required, the tool is compatible with Dewalt's 20V MAX 3.0-Ah batteries. Overall, the tool offers some pretty awesome power from a surprisingly compact and terribly efficient package.
